About Me
I am passionate about working with neurodivergent children, adolescents and families, as well as serving culturally diverse populations to promote positive multicultural identity development.
I attended the University of California, Los Angeles, for my undergraduate degree in Psychobiology, BS, and Interpersonal Communications, BA. During that time, I worked at the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior in a play-based program for young children with autism. I then obtained a Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology from San Diego State University and worked as a licensed speech language pathologist at Social Thinking - Stevens Creek Clinic leading social cognition groups for children and teens with social learning challenges. As a trilingual speech therapist, I also provided speech, language, and cognitive assessments and therapy in both Mandarin-Chinese and Spanish at Hong Fook Adult Day Health Care Center, San Diego Unified School District, and the San Andreas Regional Center.
I returned to graduate school at The Wright Institute in Berkeley, California to obtain my PsyD in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in cognitive behavioral therapy and child/adolescent development. During my doctoral training, I have provided individual, group, and family therapy and assessments in community mental health, public school, forensic and university settings. I completed my APA internship at the Help Group in Sherman Oaks, CA in 2021, where I received specialized training with autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, and learning disabilities with co-occurring mental health conditions. I also co-lead a group for young adults with autism teaching sexual education, exploring their gender and sexual identities, and learning how to form meaningful and healthy relationships.
I am excited to continue learning from and working with and supporting individuals with autism and other developmental disorders, ADHD, trauma and mood disorders. I consult with and read articles written by autistic speech therapists, occupational therapists, and psychologists, and am active in the Instagram community, following hashtags such as #actuallyautistic to stay up to date on issues relevant to the neurodiversity movement and the neurodivergent community.
