Psychotherapy

I currently have a few openings for psychotherapy clients via telehealth, and I am happy to see clients located anywhere in California.

Individual Therapy

As a psychologist, I am committed to providing a safe and nurturing space, and helping you identify what is important to you and achieving those goals. I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. I address a variety of concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, relational and interpersonal difficulties, role/life transitions, family of origin concerns, and identity exploration and individuation. I also support neurodivergent children, teens, and young adults learn about and embrace their differences to create positive self identities. I am a native Mandarin-speaker and can provide therapy in Mandarin.

My integrated treatment approach combines evidence-based practices and relational approaches. I will work collaboratively with you to create goals and explore how past patterns fo behavior and experiences influence current relationships with yourself and others. I then draw from a wide range of skills and strategies to support you with making changes in your life. I am also strongly influenced by the social model of disability, and will help you to advocate for your needs, and to find joy and authenticity.

Family and Couples Counseling

My work with couples and family systems focuses on identifying roles, changing patterns of communication, expressing emotions, and empathizing with one another. I provide family therapy, parent training, and couples counseling. My training with attachment theory, family systems, and emotion focused couples and family therapy is based on the idea that we exist within multiple systems, which impact our sense of self and daily functioning.

As a child of immigrants with a neurodiverse family member, I am mindful of the numerous risk factors unique to ethnic minorities and recognize the importance of providing culturally sensitive care. My doctoral dissertation described cultural adaptations for providing Spanish-English bilingual Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Latinx adolescents and their families. By practicing self-validation and validation of others, identifying values, learning emotion regulation strategies, and improving communication between teens and their parents, both parties were able to better understand each other and strengthen their relationships.
